AUP Ball 2007 - Part 1


Okay...I know this post is way overdue....sorry...a lot of things happening lately and didn't really have the time to update. Anywayz, quick summary of what's been going on in my life recently:
  • AUP Ball 2007 at Eastin Hotel held on 20th July 07.
  • Malacca Trip from the 27th-29th July 07.
  • Got one of my wisdom tooth pulled out on the 30th July 07.
  • Trip to Aquaria KLCC and makan-makan at Nadia's on 3rd August 07.
  • First day of finals for me and makan-makan at my house on 8th August 07.
  • Going to have my last paper next Wednesday, 15th August 07.
  • Nadia leaving on August 11th, Gary, John and Ben on August 17th and Shobana and Muhe on August 19th.
Pretty busy...trying to settle myself abit now...lol...So now I shall post about the ball - part 1. I have to break it into 3 parts because there are quite a few pics and putting all of them into 1 post makes it uber-slow to load...so sorry for any confusion!

As they say, pictures speak a thousand words so better to post pictures than to type so much about it right? Lol...so here goes...



We reached Eastin pretty early even though we left my house late. Mel came over to get ready with me but she had class until 5pm and so by the time we got ready and all it was already pass 6pm and the event was suppose to start at 7pm. However, thanks to staying pretty near to Eastin we got there on the dot at 7pm but guess what? No one was there yet! It was 7pm on a Friday evening so obviously the roads to Eastin would be jam. So what do you do when you're waiting for an event to start? Take pictures of course!




Darren and I. This is my first time wearing such a long dress and it's in my favourite color too! Thank goodness I didn't trip and fall. I had a hard time getting this dress ready for the ball as I had to go through a few alterations before it was the right length....

I decided not to upload too many pics. It's already bad enough that I have to break this post about the ball into 3 parts! The even eventually started at about 8pm and it started off with the entrance of the VIPs. Oh did I tell you that I was made to escort one of them? So I was asked to enter the VIP room with the other ushers while waiting for everyone to settle down into the ballroom. Inside the VIP room, we all made small talk with one another and the VIPs and had to introduce ourselves. All the other ushers were like 1st or 2nd sem and I had to tell them I was a summer student. Imagine how I felt! Shob was one of the VIPs as she was the vice chairperson of AUP and me and her were exchanging looks inside the room....lolx...

Anywayz, after the VIPs entered, the event started off with an opening dance and the launching. There was a video presentation after that and then it was makan time I think...can't really remember the sequence of events. There were several bands playing that night, 2 other dance performances and a musical sketch. Personally, I thought the musical sketch was great! It was performed by 1st and 2nd semester students.

Then there were also lucky draw sessions. Unfortunately I wasn't so lucky on that night...didn't win anything...And then there was this session called the 'AUP Awards' in which various 'weird' categories were came up with and you had to vote for your choice of person to win that particular award...am I making any sense? Don't really know how to explain but I'll give an example. There are categories like AUP Diva, Best Booty Shaker, Best Chomper, Best Amplifier, Best Lamer, Most Sought after Bachelor and Bachelorette...you get the drift. Forms were given out weeks before in Inti and you could vote for AUP students whom you think deserve the award. I was very 'popular' in one category. Guess what I got....

Best Amplifier! It was embarassing kay! Everyone was laughing and I can hear Satya yelled 'GO CAR MUN!' Omg....

Guess what? Darren got 'Best Lamer.' Best lamer and best amplifier...I hate to think the kind of couple we make....lol...
*fast forwarding* Everything was over at about 10-11pm I think...After that it was photography time...
